Bluetooth Software and Hardware Development

چکیده
Bluetooth is a new wireless data communications technology due to reach consumer markets later this year. This thesis presents the work done in using open-source protocol stacks to write Bluetooth-enabled applications. The development of a client-server software program used to study the effect of interference from a wireless local area network is described. The results found are significantly inferior to those predicted by published theoretical work. A single wireless local area network client can reduce the data rate of a Bluetooth connection by up to 44% from a distance of 12 metres. In addition to software applications, the thesis also examines the possibilities offered in this field by reconfigurable computing. Parts of the Bluetooth protocol stack are found to be particularly suitable for implementation in field programmable gate arrays. Applications such as real-time analysis of interference data and multimedia decoding are examined.

In our Software Defined Radio (SDR) project we aim at combining two different types of standards, Bluetooth and HiperLAN/2 on one common flexible hardware platform. The HiperLAN/2 hardware is that complex compared to the Bluetooth hardware, that Bluetooth capability may be added to the HiperLAN/2 platform at limited cost. The question is how to do this. In this paper we first describe the radio...

The Bluetooth wireless RF standard has been established as one of the most prevalent protocols implemented for wireless personal area networks. Its relatively low power consumption compared to implementations such as 802.11 make it suited for a variety of short range applications suitable for small embedded devices. The cell phone market has been a huge catalyst in making the Bluetooth protocol...

In our Software Defined Radio SDR project we aim at combining two different types of standards, Bluetooth and HiperLAN/2 on one common hardware platform. Goal of our project is to generate knowledge about designing the front end of an SDR system (from the antenna signal to the channel bit stream) where especially an approach from both analog and digital perspective is essential. Bluetooth uses ...
